Fortunately it is possible to compile a program, for 64-bit systems only, which can use up to 4GB of memory and this is called a Large Address Aware (LAA) option. Many current PCs, especially 64-bit systems, have more than this. Programs compiled for 32-bit Windows are always limited to using a maximum of 2GB of memory. When run on a 64-bit Windows system there are some benefits as follows. Open Rails is currently a 32-bit program that will run on either 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Windows.

* Windows 7 requires Service Pack 1 (SP1).

It does not work on Windows XBox, Windows Phone or non-Windows platforms. Open Rails works well on Windows PCs from Windows 7* onwards (including Windows 11). If anyone can help us put together this comprehensive list of routes and stops let us know.Installation Questions from the FAQ Which platforms does Open Rails run on? We hope to also list TS2016, MSTS, Open Rails and OpenBVE routes and stations in the next few months. We will be putting together a comprehensive list of routes used across all train simulators and make them available for anyone interested. Check out openbve too, that is also free Open Rails has some routes specifically for it too, the great thing about open rails is it also allows you to run Microsoft Train Simulator routes and its all FREE!Īlso opnebve has a great central line route with very good graphics and 3d cab view. Ive managed to get routes from Italy and France, routes to airport stations and there are hundreds more routes and eat support for a game which is years old.

I'm working on a project for and have needed to use some routes which were not included in TS2016, I have to admit that exploring open rails and MSTS there are so many routes available and a lot of good quality ones too.
